National Fruit Show

In spite of challenging weather conditions, British fruit growers are being encouraged to start planning their entries for this year’s National Fruit Show, which returns to the Kent Showground, Detling, on Wednesday 4 November 2026.

Organised by the Marden Fruit Show Society, the Show has been bringing the UK fruit industry together since 1933. At its heart is the competitive commercial fruit display – a celebration of the knowledge, care and commitment involved in producing outstanding British fruit.

The National Fruit Show is an opportunity to recognise growers’ skill and resilience in every season, not just the perfect ones, and the central display is an integral part of this, reflecting the realities of each growing season.

Last year, entries grew strongly thanks to the introduction of simplified entry criteria. This simplified format is also particularly helpful after a season in which frost, hail and hot, dry weather have affected growers across the UK.

Competitors now provide three trays of fruit, but only one is judged against all criteria, allowing growers to concentrate their strongest fruit in the judging tray.

Growers entering three or more fruit classes from classes 1 to 17 and achieving at least 85 points will also qualify for the Bonanza prize draw. Sponsored by Staxsons Mechanical and Electrical Services, this year’s prize is the supply and installation of an air-to-air heat pump system worth £1,250.

The 2026 National Fruit Show competition schedule and entry forms will be published in August 2026. For more information please email competitions@nationalfruitshow.org.uk

Alongside the commercial fruit competition display, the one-day National Fruit Show will bring together growers, industry specialists and businesses from across the UK fruit sector, providing an opportunity to meet, exchange ideas and explore the latest developments affecting commercial fruit production.

The show is free to attend, and visitors can register online now at www.nationalfruitshow.org.uk/visit

A limited number of exhibitor stands are also still available. Businesses interested in exhibiting can request further information from Show Manager Eileen Haffenden by emailing info@nationalfruitshow.org.uk
